Must Have Pet Apps for the New Year
If you’re like most people, you probably have a lot of apps on your smartphone or tablet. From handy-dandy step counters to stargazing constellation maps, there is an app for that. And, so it is no surprise that pet apps are becoming more popular, too, since so many of us share our home with a cat, dog, or other animal companion.
To help you navigate the overwhelming number of awesome pet apps out there, we have compiled a few of our favorites.
Pets Apps for Safe, Healthy Fur Friends
Naperville Animal Hospital’s App – Manage your pet’s medical records, refills, and appointments through this amazing health portal app, as well as share information with your pet’s veterinary team: The Pet Experts at Naperville Animal Hospital.
The Red Cross Pet First Aid App – This app walks you through what to do in the event of an emergency through useful training videos, instructions, and other invaluable information to better protect your pet from accident, sudden illness, or injury.
MapMyDogwalk – Want to track your daily dog workout, including miles covered and calories burned? Look no further with this great app that keeps you motivated to provide essential exercise for both you and your canine pal.
Whistle GPS Pet Tracker – Keep track of your pet’s whereabouts no matter where you are with this pet tracking sensor and app. Not only does Whistle provide additional security to ensure your pet never gets lost, it also allows you to gauge how much exercise he’s getting during the day.
Best Apps for Playtime Fun
BarkHappy – This social media app allows you to create a personalized profile of your pet (kinda like a Facebook for dogs) in order to find compatible playmates. It will even help you and your best friend find local establishments where dogs are welcome.
Paint for Cats – Purrfect for your iPad, this app gets your creative cat to ‘paint’ as he pounces the mouse moving across the screen. It’s a must have app for bored kitties, keeping them mentally engaged and moving for hours.
Apps for Doing Good
Dogly – This fun app allows you to snap photos of your dog and use the editing tools to make them really shine. Although it’s a blast to photograph your camera loving pet, the ultimate goal is to get the most ‘likes’ each month so the shelter of your choice receives a donation of $1,000.
Cruelty-Cutter – Helping you maintain your compassionate shopper status, this app allows you to scan the barcode of a product to see whether or not animal testing was involved.
Walk for a Dog – This essential fundraising app allows you to raise money for animal shelters every time you take your Fido friend for a walk. A pretty amazing way to support a good cause while encouraging exercise.
