Meet Our Veterinarians at Naperville Animal Hospital
Dr. Todd Prince
Dr. Prince obtained his veterinary degree from the University of Illinois after doing his undergraduate work in animal sciences at Iowa State University. In 1993, he was awarded Diplomate status with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. He is one of 15 in the state of Illinois to receive this honor. In 2002 and 2012, he was re-certified.
Dr. Prince has been in practice since 1984 and is a member of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Association. He enjoys practicing preventative care for companion animals and has a special interest in orthopedic and soft tissue surgical procedures, neurologic disorder, and oncology. He attends more than 100 hours of continuing education per year to stay current with the state of the art.
He is the proud owner of a black and tan Doberman named Del and a Boston terrier named Bella. In his spare time, he enjoys watching all of the major Chicago sports teams, which includes the Cubs AND the Sox, golf, reading, and spending time with his two wonderful children.
Dr. Tom Staudacher
Dr. Staudacher graduated from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine after doing his undergraduate work in biology at the University of Northern Iowa. He has been in practice since 1997 and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Staudacher has a special interest in ophthalmology and ultrasound. He also enjoys practicing preventative medicine and surgery. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, 6 children, 7 dogs, 30 chickens, 4 goats, 2 pot-bellied pigs, 2 sheep, 2 donkeys, 28 ducks, 2 turkeys, 2 geese, and a horse. He also enjoys watching and playing sports.
Dr. Amanda Mirabella
Dr. Amanda Mirabella obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio while on a division II softball scholarship. She then went on to the University of Illinois for her veterinary degree. She has a special interest in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, internal medicine, and exotic/wildlife medicine.
Dr. Mirabella grew up in the Elgin, Illinois area. In her spare time she still enjoys playing and watching sports. She also enjoys spending time with her animals including her 3 dogs: Bindi, Juno, and Pippen (pictured), 6 cats, 2 rabbits, 3 turtles, her bearded dragon, and her quaker parrot.
Dr. Mark Borcherding
Dr. Mark Borcherding received his undergraduate at UW-Platteville in Wisconsin and is well traveled, having studied 3 years in Grenada in the West Indies at St. George’s University as well as 1 year at Kansas State University and as far as Peru!
His interests include exotic animals, having taken additional courses in coral reef ecology, reptile and amphibian medicine and an exotics rotation with well known Dr. Carpenter and Dr. Eschar at Kansas State University.
Dr. Borcherding has had many animals throughout his life, each of them touching his life in a unique way and wanting to protect that bond for others who share it. He owns pet fish (fresh water and saltwater) and a bearded dragon named Sunny! In his spare time, Dr. Borcherding enjoys painting landscapes, scuba, swimming and craft projects.
His passion is providing every animal that an average person owns with the best medicine he can provide. Regardless of whether it slithers, walks, swims, or flies Dr. Borcherding aims to help animals of every size and shape. He’s excited to meet you and your pets!
Dr. Carolina Jimenez
Dr. Jimenez received both her undergraduate and veterinary degrees from the University of Illinois. She has special interests in surgery, exotic animal medicine and ophthalmology. Her passion is to deliver life-long, high-quality veterinary care while maintaining compassion and ensuring client education to help dedicated owners care for their companions.
She is the proud owner of two adopted kids: Sonic, an African Pygmy Hedgehog, and Leo, a Goldendoodle.
Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, she is fluent in Spanish and enjoys Latin dancing. Other hobbies include outdoor activities, swimming, weight lifting, kayaking, hiking and watching movies.
Dr. Tarika Sandiford
Dr. Tarika Sandiford always knew she wanted to be a vet. Growing up in the DuPage area, she volunteered at many local veterinary hospitals including Willowbrook Wildlife Center. She then moved to Scotland for 5 years to complete her degree at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh. Her international experiences and expertise are now focused on caring for your family and your furry companions.
Her areas of special interest include exotic and wildlife medicine, preventative medicine, senior pets, and behavior.
Dr. Sandiford understands that visiting the vet can be a frightening experience for pets (and sometimes their family). No matter the circumstances, Dr. Sandiford is committed to providing high quality care while minimizing your pet’s stress during their time at Naperville Animal Hospital.
In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, baking, and traveling - both locally and abroad.
Dr. Brodie Cowin
Dr. Brodie Cowin grew up in a small town near Macomb, Illinois. After receiving his bachelors degree in agricultural sciences from Western Illinois University, he completed his veterinary education at The University of Illinois. It was there that he decided small animal medicine was a perfect fit for him professionally.
His professional interests include anesthesia, preventative care, and nutrition. Dr. Cowin also enjoys learning about new techniques and therapies because of the fact that medicine is always changing.
Dr. Cowin's goal as a veterinarian is to provide high quality medicine and to improve the human animal bond knowing that our pets are part of our family too!
In his free time, he reduces stress by going to the gym, spending time with friends, and traveling. Some days he enjoys lounging on the couch with his French Bulldog, Lucy (pictured), which is her favorite past time!
Leslie Shibovich, Hospital Manager
Leslie has been with The Pet Experts for 20 years, throughout which time she's been working her magic behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly. While her daily tasks keep her plenty busy, she makes time to better her management skills by attending annual veterinary conferences and workshops, as well as various classes on computer programs. She thoroughly enjoys the business aspect of the practice and also looks forward to each and every opportunity to meet and speak with clients and to help with all of their needs.
Outside of work, Leslie enjoys running and spending time with her beautiful daughter and her precious pets, her boxers, Addi & Lacey.

New Dog or Puppy? Time For Training!
Training is an important part of any dog's life. From providing mental stimulation to exercise and proper socialization, training will help in the development of a great canine companion. Enrollment is now open for Behavior Training Classes. The cost of a 6-week session is $120. Classes will be held at Springbrook Animal Care Center, 2759 Forgue Dr., Naperville (off Route 59 at 95th).
