Dr. Tom Staudacher
Dr. Staudacher graduated from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine after doing his undergraduate work in biology at the University of Northern Iowa. He has been in practice since 1997 and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, and the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Staudacher has a special interest in ophthalmology and ultrasound. He also enjoys practicing preventative medicine and surgery. He enjoys spending his free time with his wife, 6 children, 7 dogs, 30 chickens, 4 goats, 2 pot-bellied pigs, 2 sheep, 2 donkeys, 28 ducks, 2 turkeys, 2 geese, and a horse. He also enjoys watching and playing sports.
Dr. Amanda Mirabella
Dr. Amanda Mirabella is now a partner! Together with Dr. Tom Staudacher, Dr. Mirabella shows her passion for animals every day while she is hyper focused on providing the best care for every animal she sees.
Whether you have a dog, cat, snake, bearded dragon, hamster or other exotic creature, she will administer the same pinpointed attention to each of their specific needs.
Dr. Mirabella has the well-deserved respect and admiration of not only the doctor’s she works alongside, but from veterinary students as well. When they come to visit the clinic as part of their school curriculum, they describe their awe for her surgical abilities and the expert care she provides. She inspires everyone around her to strive for excellence.
In her free time, she and her vet assistant wife, Sara, enjoy camping and spending time in nature as well as tending to their menagerie of animals which includes: 8 dogs, 5 cats, 3 birds, 3 rabbits, a chinchilla, a ferret, and their numerous snake, reptile, and amphibian collection.
Dr. Mark Borcherding
Dr. Mark Borcherding received his undergraduate at UW-Platteville in Wisconsin and is well traveled, having studied 3 years in Grenada in the West Indies at St. George’s University as well as 1 year at Kansas State University and as far as Peru!
His interests include exotic animals, having taken additional courses in coral reef ecology, reptile and amphibian medicine and an exotics rotation with well known Dr. Carpenter and Dr. Eschar at Kansas State University.
Dr. Borcherding has had many animals throughout his life, each of them touching his life in a unique way and wanting to protect that bond for others who share it. He owns pet fish (fresh water and saltwater) and a bearded dragon named Sunny! In his spare time, Dr. Borcherding enjoys painting landscapes, scuba, swimming and craft projects.
His passion is providing every animal that an average person owns with the best medicine he can provide. Regardless of whether it slithers, walks, swims, or flies Dr. Borcherding aims to help animals of every size and shape. He’s excited to meet you and your pets!
Dr. Tarika Sandiford
Dr. Tarika Sandiford always knew she wanted to be a vet. Growing up in the DuPage area, she volunteered at many local veterinary hospitals including Willowbrook Wildlife Center. She then moved to Scotland for 5 years to complete her degree at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh. Her international experiences and expertise are now focused on caring for your family and your furry companions.
Her areas of special interest include exotic and wildlife medicine, preventative medicine, senior pets, and behavior.
Dr. Sandiford understands that visiting the vet can be a frightening experience for pets (and sometimes their family). No matter the circumstances, Dr. Sandiford is committed to providing high quality care while minimizing your pet’s stress during their time at Naperville Animal Hospital.
In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, baking, and traveling - both locally and abroad.
Dr. Brodie Cowin
Dr. Brodie Cowin grew up in a small town near Macomb, Illinois. After receiving his bachelors degree in agricultural sciences from Western Illinois University, he completed his veterinary education at The University of Illinois. It was there that he decided small animal medicine was a perfect fit for him professionally.
His professional interests include anesthesia, preventative care, and nutrition. Dr. Cowin also enjoys learning about new techniques and therapies because of the fact that medicine is always changing.
Dr. Cowin's goal as a veterinarian is to provide high quality medicine and to improve the human animal bond knowing that our pets are part of our family too!
In his free time, he reduces stress by going to the gym, spending time with friends, and traveling. Some days he enjoys lounging on the couch with his French Bulldog, Lucy (pictured), which is her favorite past time!
Dr. Nicole Fernous
Dr. Nicole Fernous was born and raised in Milford CT, near the beach. For her undergrad degree, she attended the University of Connecticut and then Ross University in St. Kitts for her veterinary degree. She is interested in exotics and getting more experience with them. She enjoys learning from the experienced doctors she works alongside and also has a special interest in Ophthalmology.
Kalua, her beautiful cat is 6 yrs old and was adopted in St Kitts in her first semester of vet school, and they enjoy taking walks outside together. Other things she enjoys in her spare time are plants, and she has a variety of succulents at home. Dr. Fernous also likes to craft: Crochet/Knitting mostly, going for hikes, traveling and the beach/sunny weather.
Dr. Melissa Diaz
Dr. Melissa Diaz was born and raised in Chicago and completed her undergraduate degree in agricultural science at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. She then attended Ross University in St. Kitts for her Veterinary degree. Her professional interests are in exotics, surgery, preventative medicine and cardiology.
Dr. Diaz has 2 adopted pets: Kitty, a domestic short-haired cat and Luna, who she believes is a Pitbull/Great Dane mix. Outside of work, she enjoys playing softball, watching sports (Bears and White Sox), cooking/baking, outdoor activities, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
She looks forward to meeting you and your furry (and other) family members.
Meg O'Neill, Hospital Manager
Meg O'Neill grew up in Naperville and has a Bachelor's degree in Biology from Benedictine University. She joined the staff as a receptionist in 2017 and took on the role of hospital manager in 2019. She very much enjoys working alongside staff, interacting with clients and getting to know people's pets.
In her spare time, Meg enjoys exercising, swimming and sports, and is a fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bulls teams. She shares her home with and loves crafting with her three daughters, Katie, Natalie and Charlotte, and spending time with their dogs, Ruby and Luna.
Leslie Shibovich, Multi-Clinic Practice Manager
Leslie has been with The Pet Experts for over 24 years, throughout which time she's been working her magic behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly. While her daily tasks keep her plenty busy, she makes time to expand her management skills by attending annual veterinary conferences and workshops, as well as various classes on computer programs. She thoroughly enjoys the business aspect of the practice and also looks forward to each and every opportunity to meet and speak with clients and to help with all of their needs.
Outside of work, Leslie enjoys running and spending time with her beautiful daughters and husband and her extended family which includes her precious dogs, Lacey, Buddy, Dierks and Avi.
